	The BIG One - The Cape From Melbourne to the tip of Australia and return. We will be departing Cairns 16/08/08 and intend to return to Cairns on or about 06/09/08. Our trip will take us via Cooktown, Lakefield National Park and onto the Peninsula Development road. From there travelling north and turning west to Weipa for a couple of days rest and fishing etc. After Weipa it's back on the track and continuing north via all the creeks and obstacles that the Telegraph Track has to offer until we reach the Jardine River. We will camp at various spots along this route. From the Jardine it's back to the Jardine River ferry and on to Bamaga and the "Tip" We will stay a few days at the tip with an excursion to Thursday and Horn islands planned. Returning to Cairns we will travel the Bamaga road south with a stop off at Cape Weymouth/Chilli Beach for a day. Continuing south via Laura, Lakeland, Mareeba and into Cairns. A short stop in Cairns and then we make our way back to Melbourne. 	Birdsville Races & Simpson Desert Day and Date of Event : 21st August to 13th September 2008 Location/Description : This adventure will take us through Outback South Australia the Simpson Desert and onto Birdsville to experience the famous Birdsville Races. We will travel via Ouyen, Morgan, Burra, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka and finally to Oodnadatta on the Oodnadatta Track. Then undertake the 800km crossing of the Simpson Desert to Birdsville, where we will spend a couple of days resting before the 2 day Birdsville Race carnival commences. Leaving Birdsville we will return home via Innamincka including camping on Coopers Creek visiting local sites, down the bore track to Cameron Corner, crossing Sturt National Park to Tibooburra, then onto White Cliffs, Wilcanna, Hay, Echuca then Melbourne. It is planned to spend four nights camped in the Simpson Desert and another two nights at Dalhousie Springs. The desert crossing will take us via the French Line, Rig Road, Colson Tk, Erabena Tk, WAA, Knolls Tk, K1 Line and QAA Line.
